Girl playing at the school playground

Pastoral Care

The size and ethos of our schools help all members of the school family feel confortable and happy. Staff and children eat lunch together and teaching staff are with the children at break times. There are many staff members who work with all children in school and, as they get older, children find that everyone in school is known to them and can be approached with confidence. Our Buddy System ensures that children throughout school know and look out for each other.

Any Pastoral matters which arise are normally dealt with by Form Teachers in an informal manner and our open door policy allows parents to let us know any information which may help us whenever they need.

Developing Responsibility

As children get older they are encouraged to develop responsibility. In Year 3 they are given a 'Buddy' in Reception to look after and from Year 4 they can be in the 'Buddy Squad' helping on the playground. During Year 6 our most senior children can attain a variety of responsible positions. We have Head and Deputy Head Boys and Girls, a Buddy Committee, House Captains and Captains of Sport.
