Enquiry
The first step on your journey is ensuring we are the right fit for your family. Use our Enquire Now button to request a prospectus and arrange a tour. Our admissions staff will be able to book a visit to our school for you, where we will show you all that NPS has to offer on a typical school day. We also run Open Mornings throughout the year.
Registration
To secure a place for your child, we will require a completed Registration Form. This is within the prospectus pack which is supplied upon enquiry. We accept registrations throughout the school year, but advise submitting your form as soon as you can. As NPS is a popular choice, places fill up quickly.
Place Offer
When a place is offered to your child, we will invite them to visit our school for a taster session. This allows your child to experience school life for themselves, begin to make friends and recognise familiar faces. Parents are invited to a welcome event and are provided with a pack of information about school life to make the start to NPS life as smooth and stress-free as possible.
FAQs
When do children join NPS?
Children usually join NPS at the beginning of each academic year (in September) unless a vacancy arises within the year.
Which ages do you admit?
Children may join NPS Nursery from the September after they have turned 3. This is the academic year, 1st September - 31st August, in which they become 4 years old.
Some places are available starting in Reception for children who will be 5 years old between 1st September and 31st August.
There may be opportunities to join the school at other points between Years 1 and 6, as places become available.
Our oldest children are in Year 6, aged 11. After this point, children apply to senior schools.
What kind of assessments will my child complete for admissions?
Newcastle Preparatory School is a non-selective school so we do not issue any admissions tests.
If your child has previously been enrolled at a nursery or school, we will take a reference from them. We also will invite your child for a taster session to ensure that the school is the right fit for them.
How do I apply for a fee-assisted place?
As a charitable trust, we are committed to making our school accessible to as many children as possible. We are able to offer a number of partially and fully funded places, in line with our means-tested bursary policy.
The application process begins in the same way with an enquiry. When speaking to the admissions staff, please state that you would like to apply for bursary funding and they will be able to provide all of the necessary information to assist your application.
Please see our Bursaries page for more information.
