Last week, young artists from Year 6 have had the exciting opportunity to work with North-East artist Elizabeth Kane towards achieving their Discover Arts Award.  During a fantastic, whole-day workshop, each pupil created their own powerful artwork in response to the North East’s own experience of World War Two. Inspired by war artist Christopher Nevinson, pupils created their own collaged portal allowing the viewer to travel back in time using a variety of images sourced from local and online archives. This project will enable every Year 6 child to achieve their Discover level Arts Award, a nationally recognised award certified by Trinity College London.  We are very excited to be able to exhibit the artwork created by Year 6 during this workshop, at Jesmond Library, in an exhibition opening on 10th May.
