On Tuesday 1st March, the U11 mixed netball team embarked upon the Newcastle city netball finals day. Spirits were high and everyone was excited about the afternoon to come.

There were 8 teams at the competition and to begin with, NPS were in group 2, playing 3 matches. We had a steady group round winning 2 and losing 1, leaving us in 2nd place. This was good news as we had made it to the semi finals. Our semi final opponents were strong and we knew we had to light the NPS fire in our bellies and focus. At half time, we were losing 1 goal to 3. But not taking 'no' for an answer, the team showed phenomenal resilience and clawed back to win 4-3! We were in the final!

The final was a nail biting game… 0-1 to our opponent, 0-2 to them, 1-2, 2-2. Final whistle. There was a consensus that sharing the win was not an option and we would play golden goal (the first team to score takes the win). Unfortunately, we did not have the first centre pass. However, this did not stop us. After the longest 4 and a half minutes (and 2 new hearts ordered for Miss Rochester and Mrs Knight), Harriet scored the winning goal!

Everyone gave each game their all and played some fantastic netball. We have come away as Newcastle Netball Champions and with a place in the regional finals where we will represent Newcastle and fight for a place in the national finals!
